Should I choose LED or globe-style lights?

LED trailer lights draw less power and often combine several functions in a compact housing. Globe-style units can suit older trailers and may be easier to match when you only want to replace one side. Check the voltage, mounting holes, plug type and light pattern. If you change one side to a different design, compare brightness and functions across both sides before fitting it.

Why are my lights dim or flickering?

Start with the earth connection, since a weak earth can affect several trailer lights at once. Then inspect plugs, connectors, wire joins and cable damage. Corrosion or a loose pin can cause faults that appear only when the trailer moves. Test the vehicle socket and trailer circuits separately. Replacing a lamp may not fix the issue when the fault sits further back in the wiring.

Do I need a left-hand and right-hand tail light?

Some combination lamps use different left and right layouts because one side may include number plate lighting or a different mounting position. Read the product title and wiring details rather than buying two identical units by sight. Check which functions are built into each lamp, including stop, tail, indicator, reverse and number plate light, then compare them with your trailer’s wiring.
