Frequently Asked Questions

What does keyed alike mean?

Keyed-alike trailer T-locks use the same key pattern across every lock in the set. This is useful for trailers, canopies or toolboxes with several access doors because you only need to carry one key. When ordering, check that the pack quantity matches the number of doors you want to secure. A later replacement lock may not match the existing key unless it comes from the same keyed set.

How do I know if a T-lock will fit my door?

Measure the existing cut-out, door thickness, mounting hole positions and the space behind the panel. You should also check the shaft length and how the internal latch will engage with the frame. A handle can match the front opening but still be too shallow or too deep behind the door. Compare all listed dimensions before drilling or changing the original opening.

Should I choose a recessed or pop-up handle?

Recessed models sit closer to the door face and can reduce snagging around narrow walkways or loading areas. Pop-up handles give you a larger grip when opening the door. Your choice will depend on the existing cut-out, door depth and how often you use the compartment. Check the latch action as well, since the handle style does not tell you how the rear mechanism fits.

Can I replace just the lock handle?

Often, yes, provided the new handle matches the opening, mounting pattern and latch arrangement. Inspect the backing plate, rods, catches and surrounding panel before ordering. If the door has movement or the latch no longer lines up, replacing the handle alone may not fix the problem. Correct the alignment first so the new lock does not carry force it was not built to handle.
